Who's Writer : Victor Hugo
Victor Hugo is perhaps one of the most famous French writers known internationally, especially as the author of *Les Misérables*, and he is often ranked alongside literary giants like Dickens or Tolstoy. However, Hugo also produced a significant body of poetry, and many French people can recite verses from his poems if moved to do so. One such poem, a poignant exploration of grief, depicts Hugo in a charming Normandy town as he visits the grave of his daughter Léopoldine, who had drowned four years earlier. This piece is rich with the evocative nature imagery and melancholy that are characteristic of French poetry.
